According to the report, five men were cooking dinner and drinking Friday in a West Houston apartment when Gonzalez snagged the last piece of fried chicken, angering Rivera, police said.
The two men ended up in a fist fight in the parking lot of the apartment complex, and Rivera stabbed Gonzalez, witnesses told police.
Rivera fled, knife in hand, according to police, but eventually returned to the scene with the knife and admitted to the stabbing. He was arrested and charged with murder.
“There was a single drumstick in the pan,” Homicide Detective Fil Waters told the Houston Chronicle. “You can’t script this stuff. It’s someone getting killed over a piece of chicken. Pretty tragic.”
