A Texas shopping center had a surprise visitor Saturday morning.
A 12-foot alligator dubbed Godzilla who tips the scales at more than 800 pounds was discovered by people arriving for work outside the First Colony Commons Shopping Center in Sugar Land, Texas, according to ABC station KTRK-TV.
It’s believed he wandered over to the plaza from a nearby creek.
Christy Kroboth is licensed in Florida as a “nuisance alligator trapper.” She says she was called to help subdue Godzilla and cart him away.
Once gargantuan reptile was muzzled and restrained, a forklift was borrowed from Home Depot to load him onto a truck.
Kroboth says Godzilla is blind in one eye and has only partial sight in the other. She said for his safety the creature will be sent to Janik Alligators, an alligator sanctuary.
“He’ll probably just live out the rest of his life and have girlfriends and make babies and be fed every day,” she said. “He’ll be a happy gator.”
